Ice castle in length 14 and width of 12 meters was built in the middle of Baikal in 16 kilometers from Listvjanka. It is main post of "Zimniada-2006" festival. The construction is a polygon decorated on corners towers with orthodox domes. The ice base is built in a point located on 105-th meridian of globe. The 105-th meridian connects cape Chelyuskin (Taimyr peninsula) and Russian polar station "East" (Antarctica).

As the last year, workers had to work at 30-40 degrees frosts. Builders have created an ice throne of the "Zimniada-2006" commander-in-chief. Any interested person can to sit and be photographed on the throne now.

The idea of construction of ice base has appeared in 2005. Then Open Company "Sputnik-Baikal" for the first time has tested the project in practice. The base actions of "Zimniada-2005" - crossing of Baikal on dog sledges, natural-ethnographic expedition, radiosport competitions, etc. - were connected with ice castle.

Some actions have taken place on ice base in this year . The line of the marathon racing distance organized by "Baikal-Discovery" company has run through «Baikal meridian - 105» on March, 4-5. Radio amateurs of the Irkutsk regional radio club worked on base from March, 9 till March, 12. They tried to establish communication with maximal amount of radio amateurs of the world, and also - to contact with polar SP-35. Īrganizers will try to contact one of popular Russian radio stations that each interested person could "phone" from the middle of Baikal in the air of radio and send the regards native, tell about Zimniada a wide radioaudience.

We organize excursions to an ice castle by snowmobiles on the Baikal ice for "Derevenka" guests.
